150 years of a New Birth of Freedom!
As part of the Idaho Civil War Round Table's final event of 2015, we invite you to participate in our commemoration of the sesquicentennial of the ratification of the 13th Amendment to the Constitution back in December of 1865. The 150th Anniversary of this historic event is being observed by the IDCWRT with two special events:
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 16, 2015: a free lecture looking at the history behind the passage and ratification of the 13th Amendment. Taking place at the downtown branch of the Boise Public Library located at 715 S. Capitol Blvd on the 3rd floor meeting room, starting at 6:30 pm.
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2015:Join the IDCWRT in honoring the memory of the force behind the 13th Amendment as we lay a wreath and say a few words at the Abraham Lincoln statue located in downtown Boise in the Julia Davis park. Address is 508 Julia Davis Park adjacent to the Black History Museum. Due to this week's inclement weather the wreath-laying ceremony has been rescheduled at noon.
